Developing fine motor skills
Fine motor skills are worked on as a group through a series of tasks put together to meet each child’s fine motor aims and through games and activities which continue to develop these skills. Through fine motor tasks and activities a range of skills are developed:
- Developing grasp and release skills; including stregnth of grasp and aim of release
- Developing an open hand position and clapping
- Isolation and separation of individual fingers/thumbs
- Extension/flexion and rotation of wrists
- Clasping hands
- Developing pincer grasp and flicking
- Developing skills opening and closing buttons, zips, poppers and laces
- Opening and closing tubs, bags, food packets and twist top bottles
